On July 19, 2006 the U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs held a hearing titled “Oversight Hearing on the Role of National, State, and County Veterans’ Service Officers in Claims Development.   On the House Committee's web site there are hyperlinks to the “prepared testimony” of many of the witnesses that testified at that hearing, just below the testifiers'name at   …Witness List.   At that hearing the President of the National Association of County Veterans’ Service Officer (Ann Knowles) and Congresswomen Berkley (from Nevada) discussed the relationship that exists between one County Veterans’ Service Officer (in Nebraska) and one particular “law firm” (in Nebraska).   That discussion is included (7 minutes into the recording) in the following audio recording   …Hearing Recording.   Here is a link to an Air Force Times article titled “Vets’ service organizations weed out seedy lawyers” (reporting on that hearing)   …Air Force Times article.
