Sarah Jacobsen

Sarah "Sally" Jacobsen, 92, formerly of Dannebrog, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery at Dannebrog.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mrs. Jacobsen was born on Nov. 30, 1906, at Filley to Soren and Ane Marie (Nielsen) Larsen. Her mother died when Mrs. Jacobsen was 3 years old, and her father died when she was 6. She moved to Nysted to live with Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Jacobasen in 1911. Her guardians were her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Berg, and both couples raised her. She attended grade school at Nysted and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1925.

She moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked until 1927, when she moved to Dannebrog and worked at Hall's General Store.

She married Milton Jacobsen on June 23, 1930. The couple lived in Dannebrog throughout their marriage. She worked for Jacobsen Grocery and Dry Goods Store and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and was assistant cook at the Dannebrog public schools. She worked as a clerk at the Dannebrog post office until retiring in January 1973.

Mr. Jacobsen died in January 1995. Mrs. Jacobsen moved to Tiffany Square in April 1997.

She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and Lois Circle.

Survivors include one son, Bob of Honolulu; one daughter, Sonya (Mrs. Norm) Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Sophus and Martin Larson and Donald Larson McGaffey; and one sister, Bertha Nelson.
