Phyllis M. E. Nickulas
EXETER - Mrs. Phyllis M. E. (Blomquist) Nickulas, 86, widow of John A. Nickulas, of Exeter, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Exeter Hospital.
She was born in Dannebrog, Neb., on April 25, 1916, the daughter of the late Isaac P. and Emily Marguerite Josephine (Olson) Blomquist. Mrs. Nickulas was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1934; the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in Lynn, Mass.; and had attended Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.
She served in the United States Army Nurses Corps during World War II in France.
Mrs. Nickulas retired in 1980 from the Portsmouth Hospital as a registered nurse. She also worked at the Lynn Union in Massachusetts.
She was a member of the Greenland Community Congregational Church; the Women's Alliance of the church; the Harmony Club; and the Lynn Hospital Alumni Association.
Survivors include two sons, John M. Nickulas of Oakland, Calif., and David W. Nickulas of Auburn; a daughter, Marjorie Brennan of Sandown; nine grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two brothers, Rayfield W. Blomquist of Portsmouth and John E. Blomquist of Wolfeboro; a sister, Marjorie Bond of Candia; and several nieces and nephews.
NICKULAS - Phyllis M. E. (Blomquist) Nickulas, 86, of Exeter, died May 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Friends invited. No visiting hours. Family flowers only.
