Mildred Lauritsen

DANNEBROG -- Mildred B. Lauritsen, 82, of Dannebrog died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.

There will be no visitation. Mrs. Lauritsen was cremated.

There will be a book signing and the family greeting friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lauritsen was born May 13, 1920, at Cairo to Albert and Ida (Kaiser) Steinke.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, George Lauritsen Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marjorie Lauritsen of Dannebrog; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Stutzman of Dannebrog; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rachel Lauritsen of Dannebrog and Eleanor and Robert Schmidt of Bilings, Mont.

She was also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

She attended rural school District 9 and District 16 in the Dannebrog area. She graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1937.

She was united in marriage to George Lauritsen Jr. on May 13, 1940. The couple lived on a farm near Dannebrog for all their married life.

Mildred enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included jigsaw and crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, flowers, reading and traveling.

She helped take care of people and she was an active volunteer at church.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Dannebrog and the Lois Circle at church. She served on the District 16 School Board and the Election Board in the Cleveland Precinct.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Steinke.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or the Dannebrog-Boelus Rescue Squad.
