LaVerne Faaborg
FULLERTON- LaVerne "Butch" Faaborg,
85, of Fullerton died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in
Central City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the
Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial
will be in the Fullerton Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the United
Methodist Church, the Senior Center or the American Legion Baseball Program
Mr. Faaborg was born May 16, 1915, at Howard
County to Anton and Helga (Jacobsen) Faaborg. He attended school at Nysted,
District 17, and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1934. He attended
Moler Barber College in Omaha. In 1937 he opened a barber shop in Fullerton.
He married Adele Luschei on July 3, 1938, in
Fullerton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Faaborg ran a bowling alley from 1950 to
1953. He also operated his barber shop for over 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing, cards,
bowling, golfing, dancing and singing.
He was a member of the United Methodist
Church, the Fullerton VFW, the Fullerton American Legion Post 15, the Fraternal
Order of Eagles, Cedar River Masonic Lodge 89, and the Nance County Historical
Society. He was the former president and secretary of the Fullerton area
Chamber of Commerce and the Kemp Country Club. He was also a member of the
Fullerton Cemetery Board and the Lions Club. He was active in the American
Legion Baseball Program and received the Fullerton High School Booster Honorary
F Award.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Loren
Faaborg of Scottsbluff; a daughter, Gail (Mrs. John) Rogers of West Allis,
Wis.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and seven
step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son,
Gary.
