Jerome L. Mortensen

Jerome Lavern Mortensen, 73, of Crossville, passed away July 24, 2002. A funeral Mass was conducted July 29 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Crossville, and a memorial service was held July 30 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Westchester, OH. Burial was in Union Township Cemetery in Westchester.
Mr. Mortensen was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Dannebrog, NE, the son of Arthur Leo and Ollie Wilson Mortensen.
He was a retired mechanical engineer, and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Westchester for 28 years, and was a current member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He was a member of the Elks, and past president of Hopewell Elementary PTA in Westchester.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Mortensen of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Mortensen of Cincinnati, OH, Philip and Pamela Mortensen of Westchester, Roger and Diane Mortensen of Dayton, OH, and Glen and Susan Mortensen of Hendersonville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Paul Crowell of Melbourne, FL, Lisa and Steven Golden of Belleville, IL, Sharon and Jack Lewis of Honeybrook, PA, Marianne and Bryan Leininger of Cincinnati, and Joan and Jerry Mustain of Decatur, AL; sister, Vivian Burns of North Platte, NE; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Mortensen; and granddaughter, Dannielle Garrett Sheehan.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Building Fund.

Rex Hermansen, age 82, of Aurora died Sunday evening, April 6, 2003, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 9th at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Pastor Pam Ciulla will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Kronborg. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.
