Doris Butler

Doris H. Butler, 76, of Grand Island died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Revs. Darrell Holzinger and Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler was born on February 1, 1927, to Clarence and Annie (Bennett) Mickelsen on the family farm near Dannebrog.

Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Gene Ingold of Loup City and Rebecca "Becky" Butler of Loup City and her boyfriend, Doug Huck; one daughter-in-law, Kay Butler of Alda; three brothers, Lyle Knott of Grand Island, Howard Mickelsen of Palmer and Gaylord Mickelsen of Dannebrog; and two sisters, Arlene Wagner and Alice Mickelsen, both of Grand Island.


Mrs. Butler grew up and received her education in Howard County, Neb.

She was united in marriage to Adolph Jensen at Loup City after which they made their home in Cotesfield, Neb. She was later united in marriage to Merle "Bud" Butler in 1958 at Cushing, Neb. where they made their home. Mr. Butler preceded her in death in 1963.

She then made her home in Palmer, St. Paul, Loup City and Grand Island.

She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a sister; one son, Merlean Butler; and two grandsons.
