Beverly Volkl
Beverly J. Volkl, 61, of Grand Island,
formerly of St. Paul, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center
in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our
Savior's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Rev. Robert Carlson, Jr. will
officiate.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St.
Paul.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Volkl was born May 28, 1940, in
Dannebrog to Harry and Alice (Myers) Fries.
She attended rural school of Dannebrog and
then Dannebrog High School where she graduated in 1957.
She was united in marriage to Earl Volkl on
June 24, 1959, in St. Libory.
The couple made their home in St. Libory.
She worked as a nurse's aide at the Lutheran
Hospital in Grand Island.
In 1979, the moved to St. Paul, where she
worked as a checker for Jack & Jill for several years. Her husband died on
Oct. 29, 1990. She continued to live in St. Paul until May 2000 when she moved
to Grand Island.
Her hobbies included watching Nebraska
football and baseball games and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed attending the
area sporting events, playing cards and visiting friends.
She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church in St. Paul and of the American Legion Auxiliary 241 of
Dannebrog.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws,
Shirley and Paul Piontkowski of Phillips, Mary Ann and Terry Fecht of Dannebrog
and Rose Volkl of Grand Island; one brother, Lyle Fries of Cairo and two
grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Earl; one infant grandson, Shane Volkl and two brothers, Howard and
Wayne Fries
