Ann Obermiller

BOELUS -- Ann S. Obermiller, 94, of Boelus died Monday, July 7, 2003, at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Loup Fork Cemetery in rural Boelus. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate.

Mrs. Obermiller was born Jan. 8, 1909, on the family farm near Farwell to Paul and Christine (Petersen) Lang.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herluf Pedersen and Henry Obermiller.

Immediate survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Robert Sorensen of Fremont; and a sister, Oline Nelson of Bakersfield, Calif.


Other survivors include three granddaughters and their husbands, Christine and Ron Friemel of New Castle, Colo., Ingrid and Truman Savery of Bridgeport and Nicole and Terry Larsen of Lincoln; and four great-grandchildren, Cassandra Savery, Kendra Savery, Josiah Savery and Maggie Friemel.

Ann attended country school near Farwell and grew up on the family farm in the Farwell and Boelus area.

On Sept. 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to Herluf Pedersen at the Dry Creek Church west of Dannebrog. The couple made their home and farmed their entire married life in the Dry Creek area. Mr. Pedersen died on Nov. 13, 1972. Ann remained on the farm to make her home.

On Dec. 24, 1977, Ann married Henry Obermiller at Brookings, S.D. The couple made their home on the Obermiller farm near Farwell. In 1994, the couple moved to the Pedersen family farm in the Dry Creek area. Henry died on Oct. 15, 1996. She continued to make the farm her home until 2000, when she moved to Merrick Manor in Fremont to be near her daughter.

She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Dannebrog.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and gardening.

Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson, Jedediah Savery; and two sisters, Marie Rosenow and Edna Schow.
