Hastings resident Alton L. "Jake"
Jacobsen, 68, of 1308 East Fifth St. died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Madonna
Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings
with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in
Hastings. Visitation is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home
in Hastings and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mr. Jacobsen was born March 14, 1933, to Leo and Bergitta (Christensen)
Jacobsen near Dannebrog. He graduated from Dannebrog High School. On Oct. 21,
1956, he married Fern Blauhorn. He served in the Korean War. He was stationed
in Germany for two years where he trained to be a radar technician. He lived in
Ashland and Grand Island before moving to Hastings in 1963. He worked for
Southern Nebraska Public Power for 37 years. He retired as operations manager.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Eagles Club and Southern
Hills Country Club.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Patty Spady of Beatrice, Deb Bartunek
of Ayr and Lori Mallory of Lincoln; two sisters, Delores Petersen of St. Paul
and Lorraine Bumbal of Denver; one brother, Norman of St. Paul; eight grandchildren;
and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
A memorial will be established.
